Friday:: Journal

Do you have an art journal? Or a journal of any kind that keeps your thoughts? I did the Artist's Way by Julia Cameron about a year ago-ish. One of the things she has you commit to is Morning Pages. Well, I've been pretty good over time with those and have been pretty diligent in keeping up with them. However, lately I've slacked a bit. Yet, for some reason I have replaced writing my Morning Pages with doodling my Morning Pages. I don't finish these pages in one sitting.. they take a couple three days to build upon themselves.   I'm trying to get myself to draw more - draw again.
I started coloring this one.  However, I think I like the black and white better.

Linking up with Paint Party Friday today.  Two blog posts today - wowie.  Last month I combined my self portrait journey with a painted self portrait.  This month - yeah, no ... didn't get to that.  But if you are interested in April's self portrait journey - click here.

  4. Your doodling is lovely. I love the delicate colors you've added to the floral spread. I'm so sporadic with journaling, even though I know I should be more consistent. I doodle on everything, everywhere I go, though. Does that count?

  11. Oooh, I love seeing your journal pages! I like both the black and white and colored drawings. Beautiful!!

    I keep a written journal, which I've been doing on and off for my whole life. I've also started being diligent about keeping a sketchbook. Started as part of an e-course I've been taking this month, but I'm determined to keep going with it.

    Oh, and I'm glad to hear that it takes you a couple days to finish your drawings, glad that I'm not the only one who works slowly!

    Happy PPF!

  14. i think it's great that you're finding some way to express yourself each day, whether it's writing morning pages or doodling. your doodles are beautiful-- i love how organic they are, growing across your pages. i really like the black and white but the color is pretty, too. (i always find it hard to resist adding color!)

  15. Love your doodle pages! It's something I would like to try to delve into, but I'm a little intimidated by. I tend to stick with a single subject on a plain background, but I am trying to challenge myself to play with more complex designs.

  16. I have started morning pages many times but can't seem to stick with them. I used to doodle all of the time so maybe I would enjoy this more. Your journal pages are beautiful. I love they way the seem to flow.

  18. Aaah, there's nothing like a good doodle. I started my first art journal just recently and I've found it quite liberating. it is fun to have a place to just muck around and not care so much about results, yet be able to keep whatever I create without judgement.

    These are great doodles and look like great fun. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Best wishes,
    Liz

  21. Hi! You've reminded me about Julia Cameron's book which I haven't finished yet! Never even started with the morning pages! Yes, I probably prefer doodling pages! Hmm, I think I prefer the black and white too, but only because the colored one isn't finished yet! Patsy from

  24. Beautiful! I love to doodle. It is really a great exercise. I started doing the morning papers but some how I can't get up early enought to start my day that way. That book really helped me in so many ways.
