Owl
encaustic and mixed media on birch 12 x 12 |
I seem to be becoming kind of fickle. My tastes are changing and I'm finding my attention waivering from one place to the next. Mixed media, collage and whatever else I can get my hands on these days. I'm going to chalk it up to spring and the concept of new in the air. I believe art is like a big giant pendulum - we swing from one side to the other side before finding the balance in the middle. I know the balance will come and for now - I'm on a really fun ride.
Happy Friday every one. And... I'm still open for a few takers for my
art project. Don't be deceived by the count - there may be a few extra spots for those that are committed.
I understand what you are talking about. Right now I'm hooked on the Ipad/P-53 and can't get enough of it. I love your pieces, it's very interesting with 4 eyes looking at us. Great job.

The layering in this beautiful piece is truly fascinating… there are so many details to be discovered. A pendulum in an artist's work can certainly add excitement. Blessings!

ReplyDeleteYour owl is amazing. I am like you, always looking for the next thing...but maybe that is how we are and just accept it, that our interests are so wide...Just doing one thing could be boring too! Happy PPF - Irma
ReplyDeleteLove your owl and the beautiful texture. Being on a roll can be very freeing, but to create is what matters in the end. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love your owl and I am in a bit of a bits and pieces play mood as well... Not creating gorgeous work like this though...xx
ReplyDeleteLoving your latest piece of artwork Marji, such a fab owl. How dull art would be if we always painted the same thing in the same way, Happy PPF, Annette x

sweet and well done owl, Marji. Seeking and trying different media is part of the process, of our art journey, just like in life. It is good to be a seeker.

Wonderful Owl! If we stayed in one play it would become static, life is always changing.
ReplyDeleteI love your owl, the eyes are amazing. I've been trying to find my thing for years, still looking but like you enjoying the ride.

I guess it's good not to get stuck in one place, but I really am a huge fan of your encaustic works. Your owl is beautiful art work so enjoy the ride till the pendulum swings back to center.

Hi Marji,
ReplyDeleteI keep reminding myself that keeping an open mind of constant infinite resources is also relevant to creating work of a curious and captivating kind. You have done this with your gorgeous owl! I actually detest swinging, get terribly sick but swinging from art medium to art medium is really lots of fun, enjoy the ride!!!
Annabelle : )
I really love all the layers and rich colors of this piece. It really can be rather fun to just swing around many different things sometimes. You never know where it may take you:)
ReplyDeleteNice Marji! The owl is awesome...I'm a sucker for anything owl but I like all the details in your piece! I'm the same I swing all around with my art too. I like how you put it a swinging pendulum!

This is so true! I feel the same way but I try to focus or at least try not to get too thinly spread in my interests that I don't finish one thing haha! But I have to say.... every time I visit your gorgeous blog, I itch to get the wax colors out!
ReplyDeleteYour owl is simply wonderful! Love the depth that the layers create on this piece! Happy PPF!

ReplyDeleteI feel you - I am constantly flitting from one thing to another. I hope someday I will land on one thing and become a master of it, but, until then, flit flit flit. I love the textures in your owl! I just want to pet it. :D
