I'm really excited about this painting for so many reasons. It may or may not be a great painting, but so many things came together. I've been injured and sidelined. Really stupid stuff and no glamour to it at all. The first injury was thought provoking - but the second - I honestly believe was a message to me to just stop - stop all extraneous things and pull into simplicity. For about a week, I did nothing but paint. It was about the only thing that I could do, so just sitting in the studio and painting, and focusing has been really wonderful and some really wonderful things have come from it. This painting and the acrylic paintings have taught me so much. I'm actually really excited again, excited to be painting and discovering and yes... moving forward. Love that!

Your faces are surreal...
ReplyDeleteYour ladies are gorgeous!! While I feel bad that you have been injured I love what you've gained from this experience -
ReplyDeleteGorgeous faces, awesome colors, and the light, just love it.
ReplyDeleteSorry you were injured, hope you get all well fast!
Your peacock lady is so, so beautiful! Your work is always beautiful and you are such an expert with encaustic. Love your art.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued to know more about your injuries as they seem to have been a sign from the universe as you say and if they're what has led you to spend more time creating then they've got to be a blessing in disguise! Who do you model your faces on - are they real people? I especially love the first one, Peacock, the way her skin glows is fabulous and I'm sure people would love portraits of themselves in this style - I know I would!
ReplyDeleteDear Marji, your portraits look so good, realistic and magical at the same time. Very good works, well done. Thank you for sharing and definitely keep painting. you have got a great technique and style. Inspiring!
ReplyDeleteloving both of your faces Marji, especially the first one. I do hope you will be on the mend soon. Happy PPF, Annette x

ReplyDeletePeacock is just a beautiful piece, Marji - clearly you were meant to take this time off. Just stunning.
ReplyDeleteTwo more amazing pieces, Marji. I love the peacock lady. Wow! Sorry about your injury and hope things ease up soon. I am a bit sidelined in that I have reinjured my knee and can't get upstairs to my art room. However, I had brought down a lot of stuff when the pain wasn't bad so I can work in the dining room.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw peacock, before I even read your post, I thought that she was my favorite face that you've done - absolutely beautiful work - good for you!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your injuries! But I think it was a message...stop everything and Paint! They are just amazing! Love Love Love!
